Heartbeat Control v1.0.0
Control the WordPress Heartbeat API per screen and the autosave interval. Pro adds per-role settings and a post lock timeout.
No credit card for the trial. Pro from $1.58/mo, billed annually. 14-day money-back guarantee.
Every open WordPress tab sends a background "Heartbeat" request to admin-ajax.php, by default about once a minute. On busy sites or modest hosting those requests add up. Heartbeat Control lets you slow Heartbeat down or switch it off where you do not need it, and choose how often the editors autosave.

- Separate rules for the **admin dashboard** (every admin screen except the post editor), the **post editor** and the **front end**.
- For each screen: keep the WordPress default, set a custom interval from 15 to 300 seconds, or disable Heartbeat.
- Disabling loads a tiny stand-in instead of the Heartbeat script, so scripts that expect Heartbeat keep working but no requests are sent.
- Autosave interval for the block editor and the classic editor (leave it empty to keep the WordPress value).
- A "Heartbeat Control" section in Tools > Site Health > Info listing the active rules, handy for support.
- Settings under Settings > Heartbeat Control.
