Many themes and plugins load their fonts from Google Fonts. Every visitor's browser then contacts Google's servers, which adds extra connections to each page and sends visitor IP addresses to a third party. Local Fonts finds those fonts, downloads them once to your own site and serves them from there instead.

  • Automatic detection of Google Fonts stylesheets, both the ones enqueued by your theme and plugins and `<link>` tags printed straight into the page head.
  • One-time download of each stylesheet and its font files into `your uploads folder/kinsoft-font-local/`, either automatically in the background or with the "Download now" button.
  • The stylesheet is rewritten to point at the local font files and served from your site in place of the Google URL. Visitors' browsers no longer contact Google Fonts.
  • Preload hints for up to three Latin font files used on the page, so text renders sooner.
  • Preconnect hints to Google's font servers are removed once nothing on the page loads from them.
  • Settings > Local Fonts lists every detected stylesheet with its font families, where it was found, its status, the number of files and their size, plus "Download now" and "Clear cache" buttons.
  • Safe by design: if a download fails, or the files are missing, the original Google URL keeps working. Deactivating the plugin brings back the original URLs straight away.

  • Subset choice: serve only the unicode-range subsets you need (Latin, Latin Extended, Cyrillic, Greek, Vietnamese and any other subset Google provides). The other rules are left out of the local stylesheets.
  • font-display control: force swap, optional, fallback, block or auto on every local font.
  • Per-theme mapping for `@import` rules: scans your active theme's CSS files (and its parent theme's) for Google Fonts `@import` rules and serves a copy of each such CSS file that imports the local fonts instead. Your theme's files are never changed.

Installation
